Kerr-Tar COG Seeking Aging Specialist

Kerr-Tar Council of Governments (KTCOG) is currently seeking energetic, self-motivated, and detail oriented candidates for the position of Aging Specialist to
work in the Area Agency on Aging department. The Aging Specialist performs outreach, oversight and administrative work within the aging department. The Aging Specialist plays a critical role in the region’s aging support work. Work includes: providing direct services via partnerships with community based organizations, teaching health promotion classes in the community, providing information and outreach, participation in community events, support of services performed by external contractors, administrative and programmatic support to the director. It is a dynamic and varied position that would be an excellent fit for a person who is familiar with and enthusiastic about older adult services, and enjoys engaging with individuals and groups. NC VW Phase 2 Draft Mitigation Plan Comments

If you submitted comments for North Carolina’s Phase 2 Draft Mitigation Plan to the following email address, daq_NCVWGrants@ncdenr.gov by the September 7, 2021, 5 p.m. deadline, your comments may not have been received by the NC VW Team. Unfortunately, the email address for submitting comments on the Phase 2 Mitigation Plan was listed incorrectly on our website. If you sent your comments by email to the address above, please forward a copy of that original email to the following email address: daq.NC_VWGrants@ncdenr.gov by 5 p.m. November 5, 2021.

This will ensure that we received and addressed all comments submitted by the due date.

Resurfacing Projects Awarded for Wake & Person Counties

Thanks to three new contracts awarded by the NC Department of Transportation, totaling nearly $8.2 million, about 30 miles of area roadway will be resurfaced.  

  • Under a $1.83 million contract, Fred Smith Company of Raleigh will mill and resurface pavement on the 1.7 mile stretch of Wade Avenue between Interstate 40 and I-440.  The four ramps at the Edwards Mill Road interchange will also be resurfaced.  Work can start in March and must be completed by next November.
  • Under a $2.44 million contract, Fred Smith Company will mill and resurface pavement and improve shoulders along 8.5 miles of state-maintained roads throughout central Wake County.  Major roads to be resurfaced as a part of this contract include Wilmington Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Rush Street, and New Hope Road between Poole and Rock Quarry roads.  This work can begin in March and must be complete by the end of June 2023.
  • Under a $3.9 million contract, Carolina Sunrock of Raleigh will mill and resurface pavement and improve shoulders along 20.3 miles of state-maintained roads throughout Person County.  Some of the roads to be resurfaced include NC 158/Leasburg Road and Satterfield, High Plains and Bowmantown roads.  This work can also begin in March and must be complete by the end of June 2023.
