Aging Specialist
Kerr-Tar Council of Governments (KTCOG) is seeking an enthusiastic, people-focused, detail-oriented individual for our Aging Specialist. This position is involved in almost all Aging Department activities, from teaching evidence-based classes to enrolling clients for services and helping at community events. Every day is different in this role, and there is a lot of room for creativity and initiative.
The Aging Specialist plays a critical role in the region’s aging support work by performing outreach, oversight and administrative work within the aging department. Work includes providing direct services via partnerships with community based organizations, community outreach and education, providing information and assistance about resources for older adults, participation in community events, participating in annual Medicare enrollment, administering regional Senior Games, and administrative and programmatic support. It is a dynamic and varied position that would be an excellent fit for a person who is familiar with and enthusiastic about older adult services, and enjoys engaging with individuals and groups.

Area Agency on Aging Director
Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments seeks a highly motivated individual to join a team of professionals who works independently to develop and administer a variety of programs that enable the region’s older adults and their caregivers to benefit from a comprehensive system of care that meets their needs in a responsive and dignified manner. The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Director supervises staff involved with community based and long-term care programs and administers block grant and
other funds supporting a variety of recreational, health, safety, and financial programs. Work involves considerable public contact with local, state, and federal elected officials, local service providers, state staff in various departments, and older adults and their caregivers. The AAA Director plays a strong role in advocating for older adults. An employee in this class is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and formulating possible resolution to various situations. Work requires a broad understanding of long-term
care services and supports, as well as programs and resources for older adults, along with the policies, procedures, rules and regulations governing the agency, and related programs. Work is performed under the administrative guidance of the agency’s Executive Director, and is evaluated through conferences, observation, reports, and feedback from community groups and various committees and state agencies.

Notice is hereby given that in accordance with the provisions of N.C.G.S. 159-12, the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, for the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments has been submitted to the Board of Directors and is available here.
Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, beginning at 7:00 PM, or soon thereafter for receiving input from citizens wishing to comment on the proposed Budget for FY2024-2025. The hearing will be held at the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Government’s office, located at 1724 Graham Avenue, Henderson, NC.
