Resurfacing Projects Awarded for Vance, Person, and Warren Counties

Thanks to three new contracts awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation, totaling more than $9.6 million, nearly 78 miles of area roadway will be resurfaced.

Carolina Sunrock of Raleigh was the low bidder and has been awarded all three contracts.

  • Under a $3.9 million contract, crews will mill and resurface pavement and improve shoulders along 26.9 miles of state-maintained roads throughout Vance County.
  • Under a $2.98 million contract, crews will mill and resurface pavement and improve shoulders along 27 miles of state-maintained roads throughout Person County.
  • Under a $2.77 million contract, crews will mill and resurface pavement and improve shoulders along 23.6 miles of state-maintained roads throughout Vance and Warren counties.

Work can begin as soon as the end of April and must be complete by Nov. 1, 2022.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers Classes

Are you an overwhelmed caregiver?  Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a FREE class for unpaid caregivers of those living with any chronic condition or disability.  Learn how to manage emotions, reduce personal stress, and confidently cope with caregiving issues and demands.  This virtual class will meet 90 minutes per week for 6 weeks and is open to any unpaid caregiver.  All tools and materials are free for participants.  Session 1 begins April 20 (Tuesdays, 1:00-2:30 pm) and Session 2 begins May 6 (Thursdays, 10:00-11:30 am).  There will be a special gift for the first 20 people to register!  Register by calling Susan Tucker at 252-436-2040.  Please share this with any caregivers you know!

February 2021 KTRPO Meeting

The February 25, 2021 meeting of the Kerr-Tar Rural Transportation Planning Organization will be held electronically from 3:00pm-5:00pm. The public will not be allowed to physically attend this meeting; however, the public is welcome to view or listen to the meeting via Zoom.  Click here for access information.

Members of the public who would like to make public comments during the Public Comments section of the meeting MUST register by emailing sharmon@kerrtarcog.org before noon on Thursday, February 25, 2021. You must include your name, the phone number you will be calling from, and email address. You will be recognized for comments in the order that you registered. The time limit for each speaker will be five minutes.

The NC Division of Aging and Adult Services is hosting a series of live webinars to share the presentation: COVID-19 Vaccines: Your Best Shot Against COVID-19. The goals of the presentation are to provide you with important information about the current COVID-19 vaccines, equip you with the resources you need to better understand the vaccine roll-out process, and discuss where to go for more information.
