RURAL CENTER POLICY ROUNDTABLE

Thank you for registering for the NC Rural Center’s upcoming Zero Barriers Regional Roundtable. Due to the recent widespread damage across North Carolina caused by Hurricane Florence, we have decided to reschedule the Vance County roundtable.

The roundtable originally schedule for September 25 is postponed. The new date is Monday, October 22. We hope you will join us for part or all of the day for the roundtable! Registration is free but required. Register here.

Senior Games

Senior Games 2016 were a huge success.  On March 24th Senior Games opening ceremonies took place in Person County with guest speaker Brad Allen.  This year there were 280 participants in Region K Senior Games.  Participants who placed were recognized at Silver Arts & Awards in Granville County on May 19th. Participants who win medals compete in the NC Senior Games; state winners go on to the National Senior Games.

Kerr-Tar loan funds available for businesses

About four years ago, Tony Sanford took out a loan for his auto repair business in Vance County — not from a bank but from the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments, a regional planning and development agency that covers Vance, Granville, Warren, Franklin and Person counties.

He used the $175,000 loan from Kerr-Tar’s revolving loan program to purchase new equipment and grow his business, which has been around for 29 years.
