Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments assists our local governments by helping to identify and address community and economic development needs in our five-county region. Professionally trained and experienced staff diligently strives to improve economic, environment, and social conditions in every program area and project. Services available to local governments and communities include quality facilitation, grant writing and management, project administration, data management, policy research and development, education, and training.
COG community and economic development staff are skilled in preparing grant applications and grant administration on behalf of local governments. Examples of commonly administered grant programs include:
Economic Development grants assistance for local governments for job creation or retention. Types of grant include economic infrastructure, building renovation, and building demolition. Common funding sources include the US Economic Development Administration, USDA Rural Development, NC Department of Commerce, and the GoldenLEAF Foundation.
CDBG assistance focuses on grant writing and grant administration for CDBG-Infrastructure projects from NC Department of Environmental Quality and CDBG-Economic Development Projects through the NC Department of Commerce.
The Kerr-Tar COG’s Housing Rehabilitation Programs consist of Single Family Rehabilitation (SFR) funds to assist with energy efficiency upgrades to the home and moderate repairs through a deferred-loan program. The SFR program is funded through the NC Housing Finance Agency.
